Any of a number of saturated alcohols having the formula C18H37OH. These are fatty alcohols that have an aliphatic tail of 13 to 21 carbon atoms. Stearyl alcohol is considered to be a fatty alcohol lipid molecule, exists as a solid and is considered to be practically insoluble in water and relatively neutral.
